Although a book can’t replace practical experience or real people, it can provide you with a starting point, give you an understanding of core principles, and help you to find out what you need in person. The Usborne Guide to Better English by Robyn Gee and Carol Watson
It’s aimed at children, but this book provides clear, easy-to-understand explanations of the basic building blocks of written English. Even as an adult, especially when English is not your native language, you can get a lot out of it.
